If I could sum up this fanfic in one word, I would say "subtle" would be the best. Who has never looked back and thought: "What if...?". I believe that the vast majority of people live thinking about hypotheses, about what would have happened if they had done/acted in a certain way, but the truth is that the past is in the past, and what was done cannot be undone. Regrets are constant companions, and sometimes, we lose opportunities and valuable people, who we imagined would constantly be by our side, and because they are always there, we don't see the need to let them know how we really feel. Not everyone has the ability to express themselves adequately, which does not mean they are indifferent. This fanfic has a mix of situations, from love, companionship, to loss that was most likely never overcome, leaving marks so deep as to interfere with the future after death. The difference is that in this case, Hijikata gets the chance to redeem herself, to try to go after what was so sadly taken from her, even when she had no expectation that this would happen. For a moment, their feelings are so intense that even the other party involved is surprised, and little by little the subtleties are revealed that one has always been thinking about the other, even in a different life. With light and delicate writing, Never too Late makes us reflect on what we have and want to preserve, and not leave for tomorrow what can be said/done today, after all, as the fanfic itself says, we will hardly have "a second chance to wrong." ♥
"YOUR" and "YOU'RE"
"Your" indicates possession. "You're" is a contraction for "you are." Ex.: Is this your umbrella? You're a wonderful person.
"COMPLEMENT" and "COMPLIMENT"
"Complement" means to complete or enhance. "Compliment" means to praise or express admiration. Ex.: The dessert complements the meal beautifully. He received a heartfelt compliment on his performance.

I had the opportunity to follow the author throughout the production of not only this, but also other fics by the couple, and watch her evolution with her impeccable writing and plot development. I'm suspicious to say, as a friend and shipper, but "Get you alone" is without a doubt a milestone of overcoming, so I'm here to reward you for your courage and incredible work.
The alternative universe in which the story takes place was just one of the many positive points that I would be able to mention, but certainly the one that caught my attention the most. The abundant description of details and how all the characters' feelings are transmitted through simple actions is inconceivable, a fanfic worthy of recognition despite the lack of Brazilian fans.
I can only do my part and leave this reading recommendation, I hope that others have the same chance I had to read and enjoy this fascinating fanfic. ♥
