I usually define a good story through criteria: good characters, an interesting plot that holds the reader, good descriptions, my level of anxiety to read the chapters that are about to come out and, above all, that the story doesn't get lost along the way. "Now Then, Mardy Bum?" It has met all the criteria so far, and with spades! Rarely when it comes to band fics is there not an OC character in the mix. A lot of people don't like it, but that's very relative. The OC of the story, Olivia, is worthy of books. She doesn't drastically change her personality throughout the story, to the point of seeming like someone else (as happens with regrettable frequency); on the contrary, she maintains the stance she took from the beginning. This does not mean that it has only one side. It may not seem like it, but creating a character like this is difficult: if she is quiet, she is either too quiet or changes too much; if she's crazy, she ends up looking like a retarded bitch. Olivia has everything just right: she is not straight-faced, but she is not offered; she is not submissive, but she is not absolutely arrogant; She's not super badass, but she's not an idiot. Ultimately, the characteristics were well selected, forming a real character that was difficult not to identify with. The plot is not trippy, it is completely plausible. The scenes don't have boring details, the description is enough to understand well and at the same time let your imagination fly. Well, the fic is about Arctic Monkeys, so I can't help but talk about how they turned out. Matt as the cool guy we all imagine him to be, but also with that rockstar “thing” that we saw a little in Suck it and See it. Jamie monosyllabic as always, but fun, and Nick quieter, but without being "look-he's-the-irrelevant-bassist". But Alex... Damn. Impeccable. It's a bit personal, but MY Alex is the one from "Favourite Worst Naightmare", with the monkey-like hair, the "I'm still leaving my youth, but I'm enough badass to handle the adult life of a rockstar" pose... And He was portrayed this way: with somewhat characteristic arrogance and cretinity, but a more evident good humor. It makes him cute and stupid at the same time, and that's the charm. The guy is a box of surprises. nI believe that ANY fan of the band will LOVE the fic, and even those who don't know it or don't really like it, it's worth it. It's an incredible story!
"PEEK," "PIQUE," and "PEAK"

"Peek" means a quick look. "Pique" means to provoke or arouse. "Peak" refers to the highest point. Ex.: Let's take a peek at the menu. Her curiosity was piqued. We reached the mountain peak at noon.

"WHO'S" and "WHOSE"

"Who's" is a contraction for "who is." "Whose" indicates possession. Ex.: Who's attending the conference? Whose jacket is this?

I found this story by chance while I was looking for an Arctic fanfic. When I started reading the first chapter, I immediately fell in love with Olivia's style. The more she read, the more she wanted to read, because this story is mesmerizing. nI signed up for this site because of her fic, it's one of the best (if not the best) fic I've ever read. I've been tearing myself up for new chapters, I've read and reread it millions of times and I can't get enough of Olivia and Alex's story, and maybe that's why I recommend it to new readers (or readers, you never know).
