The girl who became a witch
1 The moment everything begin
Lucy hated mirrors. Not because they lied, but because they never did. Every morning, the reflection staring back at her reminded her of everything she wished she could change. Her untamed red hair refused to cooperate, falling in every direction, no matter how much she brushed it. Her pale skin looked dull, her tired eyes carried shadows from too many sleepless nights, and no outfit ever seemed to fit the person she wanted to become. She couldn’t remember the last time she genuinely liked what she saw. Lately, it wasn’t just her appearance. It felt as though her entire life had slipped out of rhythm. Nothing worked. She missed buses by seconds, forgot assignments she spent hours preparing, spilled coffee on her notes, and somehow always found herself standing on the outside while everyone else seemed to know exactly where they belonged. At 22, Lucy was studying psychology at university. She believed in research, evidence, and logic. If someone talked about fate, lucky crystals, or mysterious energies, she would politely smile before dismissing the conversation in her head. There was always an explanation. Always. At least, that’s what she believed. That Monday morning felt no different. The university campus buzzed with students rushing between lectures, conversations echoing through the hallways as autumn sunlight filtered through the tall windows. Lucy adjusted the strap of her backpack and walked with her head lowered, hoping not to draw attention to herself. Then, someone passed by. The world didn’t stop. But Lucy did. A young woman with long, flowing black hair walked through the crowded hallway with effortless confidence. She wasn’t simply beautiful. There was something almost impossible about her presence. People instinctively made space for her without realizing they were doing it. For a brief moment, their eyes met. Lucy felt something she couldn’t explain. Not admiration, not jealousy. Something stranger. A faint chill ran down her spine, as if the air itself had shifted for only a heartbeat. She blinked. The feeling vanished. Shaking her head, Lucy laughed quietly at herself. You’re studying psychology, she muttered under her breath. Not magic. She continued towards her first class, convinced it had been nothing more than an odd moment. She had no idea that the girl with the black hair had just walked into her life. And that this ordinary Monday was the moment everything truly began.
